To Mia – my cat!

Dedicated to my Mia

My life without my Mia would not be life at all. I am a total cat-aholic and can’t go a day without being in touch with this ‘superior specie’ that gives such unconditional love.

My whole life was surrounded by cats. I love their independence, I love their patience, I love their understanding – yes they can feel your hurt and loneliness and when you are going to travel. That is why I can never understand how people can give away their cats. Would you give away your child that easily? The day you take in an animal, or rather adopted one, you commited a lifetime of caring to that animal. It is like a child. You can’t just trade it in for a new one. They do have emotions, they do experience a sense of happiness, love, loss.

We are thinking of moving and some places don’t accept animals. I’ve just decided that doesn’t even fit into the picture because where I go, Mia goes. I cannot just leave my baby behind because it doesn’t suite my lifestyle.

So my Mia, today is to say thank you for being in my life. For your unconditional love and patience with us. For filling empty and lonely gaps in each and every human life you touch. Know this … you are special and you are loved.

Make your wishes come true…

Make your wish come true...

“You’re never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however.” Richard Bach

The dream that is born inside your heart will never exist, if you do not have the power to make it come true. That’s a timeless truth. Since you have thought about it, then you have an innate ability to achieve it.

It’s so unique that only you can make it true.

Is Discount Vouchers and Coupons really such a good deal?

The discount coupon system has hit South Africa and everyone is going absolutely crazy about it. Housewives are booking spa treatments all over the Cape Town area, running up their credit cards as if it truly will be the end of the world by the end of this year (according to the Mayan Calender). A true dooms day!

Scenario 1

So hubby decided to ‘treat’ me to a Swedish massage at one or other spa, centre or whatever you want to call it. He booked it through one of the above places. I felt absolutely loved, appreciated and taken care off. So I booked my appointment and there I go. One and a half hours before the time since it is on the other side of Cape Town. Getting there you have to struggle to find parking and finally there you are all stressed out. But after the massage you feel great. Off I go home fighting my way through the traffic and by the time I get home – the stress is back again.

Scenario 2

We were ‘fortunate’ enough to receive a voucher from friends to eat out at one or other restaurant. We thought: “Right, let us try this out. How lucky can we possibly be?” So off we went, all dressed up for the night visiting this ‘la-dee-daa’ place… our R250-00 voucher with us. So we ordered a bottle of wine (not the most expensive – just the average house wine), ordered our food (those arty-farty dishes that looks like a speck of dust on a plate) and since we had such a great time … what about a dessert as well? By the time the evening was finished and we had to pay for our ‘wine and desert’ the bill ran up to another R270-00.

After using ‘discount vouchers’ twice, my brain started working overtime: “Is this truly worth it – this voucher thing?”

Swedish massage – Average cost R300-00 (if you are lucky). Fuel there and back R200-00, parking R20-00, R100-00 for voucher. So far I’ve paid R320-00. Then I haven’t included vehicle maintenance percentage and what about the stress there and back? Was this truly a saving?

Eating Out – Average cost for two people (R500-00). Fuel there and back R200-00, pay for parking R10-00 and of course R270-00 for the bill at the end of the evening. Voucher amount R250-00. Actual cost R730-00. Once again – was this truly a saving?

Did I actually save if I bought the voucher myself? I don’t think so. People, support your local businesses. They are as good as any – if not better – because they know you. Support your town, your people and give them your loyalty because they give it back more than a stranger would….

What would you do if you received R86 000 each day?

Imagine that you had won the following prize in a contest: Each morning your bank would deposit R86,400.00 in your private account for your use. However, this prize has rules, just as any game has certain rules. The first set of rules would be:

Everything that you didn’t spend during each day would be taken away from you.
You may not simply transfer money into some other account. You may only spend it.
Each morning upon awakening, the bank opens your account with another R86,400.00 for that day.

The second set of rules:
The bank can end the game without warning; at any time it can say, It’s over, the game is over! It can close the account and you will not receive a new one.

What would you personally do?
You would buy anything and everything you wanted right?
Not only for yourself, but for all people you love, right?
Even for people you don’t know, because you couldn’t possibly spend it all on yourself, right?
You would try to spend every cent, and use it all, right?

ACTUALLY This GAME is a REALITY!

Each of us is in possession of such a magical bank. We just can’t seem to see it. The MAGICAL BANK is TIME! Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of life, and when we go to sleep at night, any remaining time is NOT credited to us. What we haven’t lived up that day is forever lost. Yesterday is forever gone.

Each morning the account is refilled, but the bank can dissolve your account at any time….WITHOUT WARNING.

SO, what will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds? Those seconds are worth so much more than the same amount in dollars.

Think about that, and always think of this:

Enjoy every second of your life, because time races by so much quicker than you think.
So take care of yourself, be Happy, Love Deeply and enjoy life!

Start spending…
